Well now comes the easy time (right) after the park closed on Sept 1st Russ and I headed to Sandusky Ohio for the consistency meeting of all Cedar Fair F&B depatments. The drive was crazy, we left Early Tuesday morning and stopped at Seneca Casino for a little breakfast and to toss a couple bucks out the window. The casino was nicer than I expected, I will have to go back for a better look next time and have time to play a little more. Once back on the road, Russ decided to show me how good a multi tasker he is, I think I will drive next time. We arrived in Sandusky with time to look around and see the sites then crash in our rooms for a while before meeting the gang. We meet in TGI Fridays for a couple drinks and I met some of the great people working all over the place for Cedar Fair. We have a pretty good group in F&B, but I think we excel at our park!
We had dinner at the 800 Club and I would recomend this as a stop off if you go to Sandusky, great Italian food and terrific hosts. I got a little insight into how our park is percived by the other parks and found we are looked as the big player next to Cedar Point, not a bad spot to be in if your have the season like we are having, lets hope it continues. I talked with the Cedar Point gang to find out what they do that is their best sellers. Seems every park ahs it core built around hot dogs, burgers, funnel cakes and snack business. Board Walk fries is an interesting concept we will look into as well as Cabanas for our water park next year. Some of the things we do at the park that push us ahead of the other parks relate to the way we use signage, the product choice we have gone with and our team, so we are looking good. as you can tell we felt great at this meeting and left with our heads high.
Now that we are back in the park we have to continue to build on the summer business and keep our levels high, keep line speed fast and add some items to our fall menu. Look for more soup, roasted corn, great pretzles and maybe even turkey legs. I'll keep you posted on how we survive September and watch out October Haunt season. On that note make sure you check out the new maze called Redbeards Rage, our whole team was in there working on the setup of the maze and it looks amazing so far.
