Kevin and I went to the George Brown hiring fair the other day to see if we can find some great people to add to our staff roster in the Food and Beverage department. I was surprised by the amount of people that came by our booth. We saw some great culinary staff as well as people interested in other departments at the park. We even saw a couple of stand out people that I hope apply for area supervisor. If we can get a couple managers as well as kitchen staff I think it will be a great success. We set up a pretty good table and I baked my Moms old recipe for Chocolate Mint Bars to give away at the table. They seemed to be a big hit with every one that tried them. I also brought along my new monitor and set up a powerpoint presentation to highlight the F&B department. I even put a couple funny pics on to show we can have fun as well as cook alot of other items beside funnel cakes and burgers, even though that is a huge part of our menu.
I think Kevin might have found a good area manager, I hope they do apply. I know that I met a few really good people that are looking for a chance to improve as cooks and build on their management skills. I am sure I will give one or two the chance at the park. I have already seen a couple resumes come in on our web site. With the talent produced out of hiring fairs like this we should be able to build a strong team for the summer. We do need to have a new full time person to fill Johns place but it is hard to get so we should see the talent work hard this summer and then promote from our ranks of seasonals, this will make a tough summer, but nothing as hard as my first year. I look forward to another season and can hardly wait to open........see you in the park!
