Here we are at the start of another season at Canada's Wonderland, the park looks beautiful and the Food and Beverage team is ready to go. Our first weekend of the season has passed and we had a sellout crowd on both Saturday and Sunday. The first day of operations at the Rice Bowl went well and our pictures we took look amazing on the menu. Here is the work in it's final presentation.
This is the Butter Chicken Bowl, created with the assistance of Sudha Sivanesan. We had a special garnish made up by our produce supplier so we can ensure we always have a consistent garnish available and each picture ensures it is served the same each time.
This is the Thai Rice Bowl, a version of a recipe we use to serve at John's Place in Victoria BC. The picture does not do it justice here, but the flavour is great, spicy, sweet, a delicate flavour of thai you would expect if visiting a friend in Thailand. Again we keep it simple and try not to get complicated so as to confuse our young service staff. I have had lots of great coments about this so far and we have improved the flavour so it is not too hot, but just right for anyone.
This was designed to be eaten by anyone, but aimed at the Vegan crowd that visits the park, and we do get a few. I call it the Vegan Power Bowl because of the special ingredient we use in the topping. Once the bowl is assembled with the rice, humus and vegetables we sprinkle a mixture of Italian seasoning and ground Salba (natures most powerful whole food) it is very high in Omega 3's, fibre and antioxidants. This bowl should be a real hit.
I will be spending a lot of time at the Rice Bowl over the next couple weeks to ensure we follow the recipes and picture of each dish. If you come by please let me know what you think of the place and any other types of bowls you might like to see here.
This weekend I am also focusing on the Back Lot Cafe, here we have a new breakfast program starting as well as our new pizza menu and the return of the salad bar. Below are some pictures we took of the Pizzas.
I have to get out of the park and enjoy the short time I have to relax, so I will post more as I can and enjoy the park, let me know what you think of our park and the food we serve.
