I honestly didn't think I would write anything like this in my Blog, but I have a chance to write something nice about a great friend I have known for years and worked with over the past 5 years. I remember the first days at the park and Russ helped me get back into the swing of things running such a crazy crew of Kitchen and Warehouse staff. I started just days before the park was to open and didn't even have a place to live, so Russ and Lorraine put me up for a month so I could settle in and find a place to live. If I didn't stay with them I am sure I would have gone running back to Vancouver. We joked a lot and yelled at each other a lot. More joking than yelling for sure, otherwise I couldn't have made it those early years. I lost a lot of food off the back of a truck rushing to get food to a catered event on the other side of the park, Russ never let me forget about this. The warehouse was a mess and trying to purchase for a business I had no idea about was very difficult, especially since there was no one left from the previous years. But Russ stood by me, helped make life easier and built confidence in me and the team, a great guy that will be missed for sure. We have grown the business year after year and improved the menu from a simple park menu to the great menu we have today. We offer everything from simple pizza and burgers to halal, kosher, vegetarian, gluten free, healthier and better tasting menu. All these thanks to Russ and Raffi, who also has left the park to go back to Knotts Berry Farm.
Russ is always trying to get on TV and build the reputation of the Food and Beverage Department, here are some great pictures from the past 5 years.
Now I wish the best to my friend Russ in his new job and want to make sure he stays in touch, thanks for the great memories and here's to many more!
