This is my first post as Director of Food and Beverage at Canada's Wonderland, and I would have to say it's not to different from my previous job, except a lot of people call me, there is a lot more paper work and I have to be responsible for more of my actions! So much more than I previously did, but very similar so far.
We have closed the park for the season and now we are just wrapping up inventories, some cleaning and the final clear out of product to go back to suppliers as well as selling off some lonely pieces of food that can't stay the winter in our freezers. It has been a great year and our budgets are just being done for next year, so it had better be even better than this year. We have a new ride coming into the park called Leviathan, they are getting close to the top of the ride, but still have a big section to go on top, but here is a picture so you can prepare your self for next year.
With the new ride comes new challenges in our department, such as where will everyone eat near the new ride, how will we serve all the new visitors and when can I go on! Well since the ride is going into our Med area we have decided to do a little reno on Thrill Burger, we are enlarging the front service counter and expanding the kitchen to handle larger volumes. We are putting in a new Icee location that will feature the new Leviathan Icee Yard, you think the ride is big, wait till you see this drink container.
Also while the park is adding in a new ride and doing some changes we will also be increasing our catering abilities over at Planet Snoopy. We are building a new grill area and adding in equipment to Planet Snoopy Pizza to accommodate the change in the terraine back there. Watch where you go next year, you could find your self lost in the past!!!!!
As the season winds down and we clear up the budget, the building, the crazy piles of back logged paper work and get ready to go on vacation I just want to let you know we will be adding to our team next year and really look forward to build a bigger and better team to make this department work like it has these past 5 years, but with a little more time off (right John)
I am getting ready for vacation and looking forward to my regular trip to Vegas and some fun in Dubai. I hope I come back with some new ideas we can try in the park. Thanks for a great season everyone and look for some pictures from my exciting vacations, see you next season.
