Wow so far half the season has flown by and we are in the heat of the summer tourist season, but it is time to think about what to do next. During the summer I love going around to festivals and events looking for what to serve at the park and what I can create to make the food more exciting at the park. Some of the hits this year will be used in our restaurants next year or brought back as fun additions once in a while. one addition will be a fall funnel cake to add to our all time favourite Strawberry Funnel Cake and our Marketing department wants to run a contest so all the fans on our Facebook page can choose the next topping. This could lead to chocolate and bacon on the ice cream, but thats been done and is tasty! so lets think about this and look out for the contest. One thing I would like to add to the park, and follow the CedarFair tradition this year of breaking world records, would be something to top this $80 Huate Dog
We have the best foot long hot dog already at the park and to top it with Fois Gras and cook it in Truffle oil would only make it better. But I still think it is best topped with ketchup and mustard, so I think I will leave this to try another day.
We were playing with some ideas at Rusty's Corn Dog cart the other day and the out come was amazing. I cut a hunk of Havarti Cheese and put a stick in it, then dipped it in our Corn Dog Batter and deep fried it. Biy was that delicious. The cheese melted beautifully and the batter is so tasty! I think this might end up in the park for the fall, so be sure to come on by and try it at Rusty's!
I know we will be pulling out the S'mores Cart again this fall, so I think I will try a more upscale s'mores as well as the traditional, so over the next couple weeks I am going to have to eat a few high calorie cookies and hi fat fillings, I better start eating more salads for lunch then. I didn't eat a lot of s'mores growing up so I don't have the same connection as a lot of cottage people around here, but I bet there are a lot of stories out there that can help define what an upscale s'mores would be, or could be....... I think I will start with the graham cracker cookie I made, maybe add something crunchy, like Cap't Crunch cereal, then dip the marshmallows in belgium chocolate, I like where this is going, I will keep you posted!!!!!
We do have our crepe cart at the entrance to Timberwolf Falls, but during Haunt this is a creepy place to be, so I need something interesting that will fit into the park theme. Maybe raspberry jam for blood, sliced lady fingers and nutella. Sounds promising!
During the fall we also bring back the Mortal Meal at Market Place and Backlot, so look for some great food to have before you come in to be scared at Haunt. Look for the famous Apple Crisp Funnel Cake and some of our other fall favourites coming out soon, until then enjoy the rest of the summer and see you in the park.
